Just a few hours after announcing the title of his forthcoming sophomore album Based On A T.R.U. Story II: Me Time—set to be released just in time for the upcoming school year on September 10th—ATL icon 2 Chainz hit his hometown radio station Hot 107.9′s Birthday Bash for a standout performance on Saturday night. Backstage after the show, Chainz caught up with MTV News to delve into the direction of the new LP.

In the interview, he says, ”Me Time has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes—without really going on vacation.” Hoping to give his fans an escape from regular life, he’s aware of his responsibility to keep it light for the listeners. “When people listen to me, they feel like they’re goin’ somewhere, taking time off; they’re relaxing, lettin’ their hair down. Every time somebody wants to have some ‘me time’ or whatever, this is the type of vibe, this is the type of project [to listen to].”

Sources indicate that Chief Keef was reportedly arrested today for a third time this year.

According to FakeShoreDrive, Keef was reportedly arrested by Chicago police earlier today on unknown charges. The Glory Boyz impresario was in court this morning pleading guilty to his speeding charges from last month, when police detained in the south-side of Chicago.

For his speeding ticket, the Chicago rapper received a fine of $531, 18 months of probation and 60 hours of community service. XXL will keep you updated as more information comes to light.

UPDATE: The Chicago Sun-Times indicates that Keef was arrested for misdemeanor trespassing charges. His attorney Leah Starkman did not divulge any details surrounding the incident other than the actual charge.

“I got a frantic phone call and followed them down here,” Starkman said. “It certainly looks like he is on [the Chicago police's] radar.”

Just a few days before the release of his sixth studio LP Yeezus, Kanye West and his longtime girlfriend Kim Kardashian brought their first baby into the world on June 15th, five weeks ahead of her scheduled birth date. Still, it’s pretty great timing for West, who has kept a relatively low profile as of late, and who will likely fall back from the public eye to take care of his daughter. Before he does that, though, he and Kim will likely announce the name of the baby. Rumors have been swirling that the baby girl’s name will start with a “K,” to go along with Kim and Ye’s first names. While we wait for the news, XXL compiled some potential baby names for the couple’s newborn.

Tomorrow (June 18) marks the biggest hip-hop release date of the year to date, with Kanye West’s Yeezus, J. Cole’s Born Sinner, Mac Miller’s Watching Movies WIth The Sound Off, and Statik Selektah’s Extended Play all getting a ton of buzz, setting up a sales showdown that should rival any that have battled in the past half-decade. The buildup to the date has been a long time in the making, with Statik announcing his release date back in March, and J. Cole unveiling in early April that his sophomore album would drop June 25th. Mac Miller tweeted his June 18th date on May 2nd, which doubled as the same day that Kanye West cryptically tweeted “JUNE EIGHTEEN.”

What followed was eerily similar to an event that consumed the hip-hop world nearly six years ago—J. Cole, feeling the pressure of an impending Kanye-inspired cultural event, moved his release date up a week to directly compete with Yeezus. It was a move that Kanye had used in 2007, bumping up the date of his third album, Graduation, to September 11th in order to go head-to-head with the then-reigning king of New York 50 Cent’s third offering, Curtis. It was a showdown that sparked commentary and (seemingly) light-hearted smack talk from both sides, even earning a face-to-face cover of Rolling Stone and causing 50 to famously say that if Kanye outsold him, he’d retire from rap.

The rest, of course, is history—Kanye outsold 50, eventually winning Best Rap Album at the 2008 Grammys, and 50 didn’t retire, but hasn’t totally been the same since. Now, with both Yeezus and J.
