Three months after dropping his foray into punk rock Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, Kid Cudi returns to form on his latest single "The Frequency."

The song features production from Cudi, Mike Dean and Plain Pat, and moves back into the direction most fans have come to love from the eclectic MC. The dreamy production is highlighted by odd sound effects and spaced out chords. Cudi uses the score to his advantage. Meandering his way through the slow-burning orchestration at a snail's pace he raps, "Couple girls, couple stories, and a couple shrooms/Couple clubs and I'm in the zone/Rather take the party home/Took it in the groove/Wet sex passionate in a dark tomb."

Posting the song on his Soundcloud, Cudder commented "pure."

It's safe to assume this is part of what Cudi cooked up in the studio last month when he was spotted in the lab with Pat, Dean and Kanye West.

The session is believed to have been for West's upcoming album Turbo Grafx 16 but it appears Cudder got some work in too.

Cudi recently wrapped up his Especial Tour which was in promotion of his new album. The LP was a departure from the Cleveland artist's normal wave being completely acoustic with Cudi getting his Kurt Cobain on. While some fans were turned off by the switch, many people including Andre 3000 and Erykah Badu applauded KC for stepping out of the box. For now, it looks like Cudder's back.
