Kanye West Is in the Studio with Kid Cudi, Mike Dean and Plain Pat for Next Album
The dust has barely settled on Kanye West's The Life of Pablo — the controversial lyrics, the bonanza of a rollout — and already the "most important living artist" is back in the lab creating new sounds. Last week, Kanye revealed that he plans on releasing another album this summer, and over the weekend, he revealed that the tentative title of that album was Turbo Grafx 16.
Now, in a photo posted to Instagram early Monday morning (Feb. 29), it appears that Kanye has gotten started on the new album, though some Pablo tracks were intentionally left off to use on the project. In the photo, West is seen in studio with Kid Cudi, producers/string-pullers Mike Dean and Plain Pat, and a veritable buffet of top shelf liquor. West drummed up quite a fervor amongst rap fans in the lead-up to Pablo, as more and more photos were published of the rapper in studio with A-list artists and guests. The photos were potentially misleading, as all captured weren't actually featured on the album, but rather, contributed ideas or opinions that led to its construction. In the above photo however, West is shown with what can be considered more of the nucleus of his creative process.
If West is able to deliver that Pablo follow-up before years end, he very well may capture national attention for an extended run previously unparalleled. Last week it was reported that West was planning a tour in support of his new album, what would be his first string of shows since 2013's Yeezys Tour. With that would come the usual headline-making rants and whatnot, making an extension of the constant stream of Kanye-related news entirely possible. That he's already in the studio working on Turbo Grafx means there's no respite in the works for the hard working rapper turned designer.
