UPDATE (May 2):

Lil Durk is now facing a new charge in his murder-for-hire case after being hit with a second superseding indictment yesterday.

On Thursday (May 1), a California grand jury indicted Durk, born Durk Banks, once again, according to court documents obtained by XXL. The rapper now faces a new charge of stalking resulting in death in connection with the killing of Quando Rondo's cousin in August of 2022. That is in addition to previously being charged with one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, one count of conspiracy and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

UPDATE (April 29):

Lil Durk's team has released a statement ahead of his upcoming bond review hearing.

"The recent developments in Durk's legal case have brought a harsh truth to light: the government presented false information to a grand jury to indict him," the statement reads. "That isn't justice. That's a violation of the very system that's supposed to protect all of us."

Lil Durk wants his murder-for-hire case thrown out.

Lil Durk Pushes to Have Murder Case Dismissed

On April 18, Lil Durk's attorneys filed a motion in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California asking the judge to dismiss the indictment against the 32-year-old Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks. According to court documents obtained by XXL on Tuesday (April 22), Durk's legal team claims the government presented false evidence to the grand jury, including song lyrics.

"The plain language of the superseding indictment makes it apparent that the government told the grand jury that Mr. Banks, through specific lyrics in his music, celebrated and profited from a revenge murder that he had ordered, namely, that of S.R. in August of 2022," Durk's attorneys write. "That claim is demonstrably false."

The song in question, Babyface Ray's "Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy" featuring Durk, was recorded seven months before the shooting that Durk is accused of masterminding took place, the rapper's lawyers state.

"For the foregoing reasons, the Court should dismiss the superseding indictment against Mr. Banks," Durk's attorneys conclude.

Lil Durk Fighting Serious Case

Lil Durk was arrested last October and accused of hiring five men to murder Quando Rondo in August of 2022 in a shooting that instead took the life of Rondo's cousin, Saviay’a Robinson a.k.a. Lul Pab. Authorities say the shooting was retaliation for Durk's artist King Von being shot and killed by Quando Rondo associate Timothy Leeks in November of 2020. Durk has pleaded not guilty. The trial was initially scheduled to start on Jan. 7. It has since been pushed back to Oct. 14.
