Guilty Simpson recorded a lot of material with producer Katalyst of the Quakers for his 2015 album Detroit's Son. All of the cuts could not fit on the 17 track project released through Stones Throw Records, but those songs are not going to waste. Guilty Simpson decided to put out two of the records from those sessions in a combined format.

"Letting Off Steam / Love" displays the palpable chemistry Guilty Simpson and Katalyst have as a collaborative unit. "Letting Off Steam" sees Guilty effortlessly flowing on horn-driven production. Things get more subdued on "Love" as Katalyst brings the tempo down so Guilty can get introspective. Hopefully some more gems from the Detroit's Son sessions will be released in the future.
