Big K.R.I.T. Hops on Caleborate’s “Soul (Remix)”
After his original track saw major success from his fan base, Caleborate drops his new "Soul (Remix)" featuring Big K.R.I.T.
The Berkley-based rapper recruits the Mississippi native to lace the remix with some innovative rhymes, dedicating his verse to the single parents who are scraping the bottom of the barrel to get by.
"This for all the single mothers, single fathers outchea tryna make it," K.R.I.T. raps on the Lege Kale-produced track. "Taking pay cuts, never late putting food up on the table."
The original version of "Soul" is a tribute as well as an anthem for those who get up and push to make it every day in anyway that they can, which makes K.R.I.T.'s lyrics more than fitting.
Caleborate previously released his 10-track Real Person album last year, with "Soul" becoming the most successful single off of the project. The LP followed in the footsteps of his 1993 album that he dropped back in 2016.
XXL spoke with Caleborate back in December 2016, where he elaborated on why he considers himself a "revolutionary."
“I say revolutionary because I’m a Gemini and I just know myself," he explains. "I’m not very good at not saying what I feel. There’s shit to me that happens in the world that I feel like if you’re an artist, a celebrity or entertainer and you have that platform, there’s a lot of shit that should be talked about.”
