Today is Nicki Minaj's 33rd birthday and 2015 has been a huge year for her. Nicki, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, has seen her star level rise to a new level. She was recently nominated for three Grammy awards (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) for her work on her latest album, The Pinkprint, which dropped in 2014. She recently was awarded the Big in Music honors at VH1’s Big in 2015 With Entertainment Weekly and gave an inspiring acceptance speech.

“I’ve never met a woman that I couldn’t relate to, ever. I hope that if I could inspire a woman to do anything it’s to never take no for an answer,” she said. “No matter what field you’re in, go after your biggest dream. Do not settle. Do not allow people to tell you that you can’t do anything you put your mind to.”

Prior to handing Minaj the mic, Queen Latifah called the Queen of the Barbz an “inspiration to women everywhere.” Minaj is co-starring in Barbershop 3: The Next Cut alongside Ice Cube, Eve, Common, Cedric the Entertainer, Deon Cole, Regina Hall, Michael Rainey Jr., Anthony Anderson and more.
