Nicki Minaj has been taking a lot of heat for portraying Nazi imagery in the lyric video for her song "Only," but The View co-host and Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg came up with an explanation for the MC's decision. "We don't teach a lot of history anymore," said Goldberg. "We don't teach the history of the world, we don't teach the history of World War II, we don't explain what went on, we don't teach American history..."

Goldberg was then interrupted by fellow host, actress Rosie Perez, who argued that Minaj attended LaGuardia High School, one of New York City's more reputable high schools. Then, guest Naya Rivera chimed in and asked Goldberg, "Nicki Minaj doesn't know about the Holocaust."

To which Goldberg responded: "I don't think she knew [about the Holocaust], no."

Seems a little far-fetched that someone as successful and high-profile as Nicki Minaj doesn't know about Nazism and the Holocaust. But, Goldberg may have been playing Devil's Advocate and opening the discussion up about the country's education system as a whole. Regardless, if Minaj didn't know about the Holocaust before, she certanly does now.

“Only” lyric director and visual artist Jeff Osborne released a statement yesterday in which he says "So if my work is misinterpreted because it’s not a sappy tearjerker, sorry I’m not sorry." Ouch. Read the rest of it here.
