Trippie Redd, Lil Peep, Lil Durk and More: New Projects This Week
With a selection of highly anticipated projects from hard-hitters hitting retailers this week, sound-tracking this weekend’s turn-up shouldn’t be too difficult. Whether looking for tunes that match your vibes or anthems that feed the streets, this week’s new releases should satisfy your hip-hop fix. As another week winds down, XXL rounds up the latest and littiest in hip-hop for the period.
Back as if he never left, Trippie Redd returns with A Love Letter to You 3. Equipped with tracks like “Topanga” and “Love Scars 3,” the 2018 XXL Freshman’s latest tape arrives less than three months after the release of his debut album, Life’s a Trip. The project, which the Ohio native reportedly recorded following the release of his first album, features Juice Wrld, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Tory Lanez and Kodie Shane, who also dropped some new tunes this week.
Only days after it was announced that Lil Peep’s XXXTentacion-assisted “Falling Down,” had been certified gold, his Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2 album arrives. The “Life Is Beautiful” rapper’s posthumous sophomore project houses a collection of tracks recorded prior to his untimely passing. Produced mostly by longtime collaborator Smokeasac and George Astasio, the anticipated album is expected to be followed by a documentary based on Peep’s life and legacy.
One of the hardest working rappers out, Lil Durk returns with the third installment of his Signed to the Streets series. The album—his first official release since inking his deal with Alamo/Interscope Records—is laced with appearances from Gunna, Kodak Black, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Baby and Future, who pulls up on the single, “Spin the Block.” Records like the XXL-premiered “Neighborhood Hero” and “India Part II” can also be found on the project.
Fans of Wifisfuneral were treated to a mid-week gift. Following teasers like “Ever Seen a Demon” and the unveiling of a tracklist heavy on interesting song titles, the 2018 XXL Freshman unleashed his latest EP, Leave Me the Fuck Alone on Wednesday (Nov. 7). On the four-track project, the Bronx-born, Florida-bred rapper links up with HenryDaher, Cris Dinero and TNO on the production side of things and beta.files as the single collab on "Pain."
