Master P’s still got the hook up.

The rap mogul has a new electronic device in development that he believes will affect the technology realm immediately. While most particulars are still under wraps, P did reveal a bit of the details to XXL backstage at the Fool’s Gold 7th Anniversary party at Webster Hall last night.

“I’m going in to the technology thing now, I just created this camera called the Master Camera,” he said. “You’ll be able to upload your YouTube videos onto it.”

In 2000, the budding entrepreneur founded his own phone company under the No Limit Communications imprint. P capitalized off the intense urban demand for prepaid telecommunications by selling cell phones, phone cards, Internet access and paging devices.

But the market has changed immensely over the past 14 years—and this isn’t a movie plot. P hopes this idea will have a global impact in the tech arena.

“I want the world to know about this Master Cam; I’ve been working on it for like seven years,” he said. “I want to get it into the computers. I’m starting out first digitally, getting it across the country to all the online outlets and then into stores. I’m working on a deal right now with Sprint to be able to get that Master Cam with Sprint phone.”

P believes the next generation won’t be making CDs anymore. After becoming one of the first rappers to enter the electronic space, he predicts everything in the industry will revolve around innovative technology.

“We talkin’ about overseas, international. You got to get outside the music realm, outside the typical scene and find the right partners, just build a relationship," he said.

The Master Camera will be available at select retailers across the country soon. —Chris Harris
