News of Chris Lighty’s death shocked the hip-hop industry…even those behind bars.

Former hip-hop manager to the Game, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond recently remembered Lighty in an exclusive statement sent to AllHipHop.com.

“Chris, you were my peer in business and in life,” an incarcerated Rosemond told the website. “We learned the game together. You will be missed.”

Rosemond managed the Game, when the Compton rapper was embroiled in a bitter feud with 50 Cent, whose career was guided by Lighty’s Violator Management.

Today (September 5), superstars such as 50, Lauryn Hill, LL Cool J, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Russell Simmons, Missy Elliott and more piled into the Frank E. Campbell funeral chapel on the Upper West Side of New York City to pay their final respects to Lighty in an open casket funeral. Lighty, 44, reportedly died of “self-inflicted gunshot wounds” in his Riverdale, Bronx apartment last Thursday (August 30) at 11:33 a.m., according to the New York Police Department.

This past June, Rosemond was found guilty of 13 charges against in a Federal drug trial. He was also indicted in connection with a 2009 killing of a 50 Cent associate in New York City. Rosemond’s sentencing date will be April 26, 2013.—XXL Staff (@XXL)
