Andre Young, better known as Dr. Dre, is 52 today!

Dre shot to fame with his group N.W.A, but his debut solo album The Chronic has been heralded by the hip-hop community and helped win Dr. Dre a Grammy. He helmed production for Death Row Records before branching off and starting Aftermath on Interscope. Now he works at Apple with the guy who gave him that label, Jimmy Iovine.

Known for being a G-Funk innovator alongside the likes of Above the Law and DJ Quik, Dre has made a name for himself not only by producing legendary albums and having some of the cleanest mixes in the history of hip-hop, but also by getting behind acts that have changed the face of rap, from Eminem to 50 Cent to Kendrick Lamar. Now he's got another star on his hands with Anderson .Paak, who started getting big when Dre featured him on multiple songs from 2015's Compton album.

Apple is said to be making original video content featuring Dre, and he's also got an HBO documentary coming out later this year featuring Jimmy Iovine.
