Nearly a year-and-a-half after it was first teased, XXXTentacion's "Hearteater" gets an official release.

At midnight on Tuesday (Oct. 22), XXXTentacion's estate dropped off an official streaming link and download for the song, which has been floating around the internet since last year. Fueled by guitar riffs and some vulnerable vocals from XXXTentacion, the song finds the rapper crooning on about a woman who broke his heart. Or more specifically speaking, ate it.

"Hearteater, why'd you eat my heart alive?/Still breathing, why you looking so surprised?/Hearteater, try but you will not suffice/Hearteater, why'd you eat my heart alive?/Still breathing, why you looking so surprised?/Hearteater, try but you will not suffice," sings X, who was tragically shot and killed in a robbery on June 18, 2018.

The official release of "Hearteater" was preceded by a trailer for the song's music video, which stars X's former girlfriend, Geneva, who accused X of physical abuse three years ago.

In the video, Geneva eats what's presumably X's heart. It's a gruesome sight, but it's one X might have had in mind from the beginning. In a voice memo recorded in April 2018—one that appears in the trailer for his new "Hearteater" video—X speaks on wanting to "include my ex in a weird way" for one of his projects.

"I feel like tying her into it makes the video amazing and it really captures people's minds and really gives me the power I truly desire," X continues.
