T.I. Calls Floyd Mayweather Socially Irresponsible for Saying “All Lives Matter”
T.I. has a problem with Floyd Mayweather Jr., and it has nothing to do with what you might expect. Recently, Mayweather used the polarizing phrase "All Lives Matter," and the Grand Hustle boss used Instagram to let the welterweight boxing champion and the rest of the world know that he wasn't having it. Peep what Tip had to say up top.
The situation that led T.I. to criticize the champ came about after Mayweather did an interview with Tha Boxing Voice. "I’m here to say all lives matter," he said, presumably after being asked about police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. "You know, a lot of times, we get stuck, and we are followers. When you hear one person say, 'Black Lives Matter,' or, 'Blue Lives Matter,' all lives matter." Mayweather also threw some shade at San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
"Kaepernick needs to try and get the starting job," he said. "Stand up, and get the starting job. That’s what he needs to focus on." Displeased with his words, T.I. levelled his own criticism against Mayweather, calling the controversial boxer's sentiments naive and socially irresponsible.
"Yo, @floydmayweather all our past personal differences & opinions of each other aside.... This is socially irresponsible, inconsiderate, & insensitive," T.I. wrote in his Instagram caption. "It mirrors delusional oblivion in a way only brainwashing tactics can achieve. This completely undermines & discredits the movements that fight for the plights of our people. You're a leader whether you know it or not. Don't get so lost in personal possession or individual achievement that you lose sight of the things that are larger than all of us. Freedom, equality, justice, human rights, qualities of life that have been withheld (or given out sparingly) from our people for generations (400 yrs approximately)."
T.I. continued pointing out the flaws in Mayweather's argument, but you get the picture. Keep it locked with XXL to see if Mayweather responds or has a change of heart.
