Slum Village has sat perched on the ledge between 'mainstream' and 'underground' since those terms read vastly differently than they do today. Their latest video, "Expressive," is for the kind of summer cut that should be at every cookout on each side of the imaginary aisle. Produced by the late J Dilla, whose beats anchored the group's fantastic run in the early 2000s, the song features guest turns from former member (and Dilla's brother) Illa J and crooner BJ the Chicago Kid. Slum Village's new album, Yes!, is due out June 16 and features collaborations with De La Soul, Black Milk, Phife Dawg and more. Nine of the 12 songs are produced by J Dilla.
