ScHoolboy Q Thinks Drake Is Underrated, One of the Greats
Some 10 years into his commercial career, Drake stands as one of the most commercially successful rappers of all time. Still, ScHoolboy Q thinks the 6ix God is underrated.
Speaking with the folks on Hot 97’s Ebro In the Morning Friday morning (April 26), ScHoolboy offered up some effusive praise to Drake as he discussed his new CrasH Talk album, his favorite rappers and more.
At one point during the convo, co-host Peter Rosenberg asked ScHoolboy if he thought that Drizzy was underrated, and he quickly responded with a, “Yes.” “He’s one of the greats,” Q added a moment later.
Q goes on to say that people who speak ill of Drizzy's place in hip-hop are "dweebs" and that if people really didn't like Drake, the Toronto rapper wouldn't be as popular as he is.
“If Drake is trash, you niggas stop giving him 50 billion streams,” ScHoolboy told the show hosts. “Cause y’all all listening to it, bruh, it’s too many streams. Y’all listening to him, you just don’t wanna say it.”
In addition to Drake, the 32-year-old rhymer ran down his favorite rappers from the last 30 years. "From the '80s, Cube or Dr. Dre, from the '90s my favorite rapper is Nas," ScHoolboy said. "But I love everybody else too, Jay-Z, [Biggie], [Tupac Shakur], Snoop. My favorite from the 2000s is 50 [Cent]. 2010s—Kendrick, Drake [and] [Black Hippy]."
Elsewhere in the interview, ScHoolboy Q talked about the late and great Nipsey Hussle, of which he wrote a heartfelt message to him in the liner notes of his album, CrasH Talk.
