Post Malone Thinks Future Is a Trap Jesus
Post Malone left a lot of fans questioning his status as a legitimate rap fan and student of music when he implied that rap wasn't the place to search for emotionally meaningful songs. One thing that isn't as up for questioning, though, is his love of Future, whom he lobs some praise toward in a recent interview.
Appearing on DJ Whoo Kid’s Shade 45 show, The Whoolywood Shuffle, Post offered up some praise for the rapper who's served as a defining voice for trap music.
“I’ve always been a big Future fan. He’s trap Jesus," says Post. "He’s got a lot of soul in his voice. A lot of haters don’t give him the credit he deserves because mainstream people will be like, ‘Oh, Auto-Tune.’ He’s a fantastic vocalist and he really has a lot of expression in his voice.”
It's that expression, and his ability to make music you simultaneously enjoy on multiple levels that impresses Post. “He makes some very sad songs but they’re still turnt up at the same time, so I can really appreciate that,” he says.
With his own status as a hip-hop crooner, it isn't a surprise to see Post is a big fan of the Atlanta superstar. He also rocks heavy with Future's fellow Atlanta native, 21 Savage. Post's 21 Savage-assisted single "Rockstar" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks until it was finally dethrone by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce's collab "Perfect."
“He’s fire,” Post tells Whoo Kid of 21. “I really wanted that energy ’cause he brings such a dope energy to records. It’s so easy for him. He can just say whatever he wants and it is fucking hyped. It’s good shit. I knew I wanted him on it ever since I finished my part of the record. He just delivered and it was fucking awesome.”
