Nicki Minaj to Launch Her Own Beats 1 Radio Show
Nicki Minaj has twice postponed her new album Queen's release, but she has something else for fans waiting patiently. The rapper is launching her own Beats 1 radio show titled Queen Radio tomorrow night (Aug. 9).
Minaj announced the news this morning (Aug. 8) on social media with posts that tease the possibility of new music dropping on the show's inaugural episode. "#QueenRadio begins tomorrow @applemusic!" she tweeted. "The new dynasty begins on @beats1official tomorrow at 7pm PT/10pm ET. AND I might have something special for you too!"
Nicki shared additional details on Instagram about what to expect from the show, which follows in the tradition of Beats 1 programs by Drake, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and Vince Staples. Queen Radio will feature a live Q&A segment with Nicki that will award autographed albums and other perks to fans with the best questions and comments.
"I’ll be conducting a live Q&A portion of my very first show," she wrote. "Prizes for the best comments & questions include signed albums, signed merch, tour tkts, AND plane tickets to discuss #QUEEN w|ME & other members of the magical KINGDOM."
So far, Barbie has let loose four tracks expected to appear on her forthcoming project: "Chun-Li," "Barbie Tingz," the Lil Wayne-assisted "Rich Sex" and "Bed" featuring Ariana Grande.
Last week, she pushed back the release date from Aug. 10 to Aug. 17 after revealing that she's in the process of attempting to clear a Tracy Chapman sample used on a song featuring one of "the greatest rappers of all time."
