Lil Uzi Vert isn't here for your fashion criticism, but he's not really complaining about it either. During an interview at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, Uzi offered up a simple explanation for why, exactly, folks tend to throw shade at his outfits.

"You know what it is? They never felt these fabrics before," he explained. Uzi is clearly pretty comfy in his own skin and eccentric dressing style, so don't expect him to leave his pieces in the closet any time soon.

Criticism of Uzi's clothing choices seems to be an extension of the way rappers and fans from previous generations seem unable to classify the newer ones. A little while back, Waka Flocka warned against calling Uzi a rapper at all.

“This post ain’t bool @liluzivert is Rock not HipHop! This generation has #Logic #Jcole #Meek #KDot etc. let my era just be great!!!! Side note rock artist always been edge. #ImJustTakeUp4HipHop & #TheseStreets #TheseYoungNiggasUp Big old Facts #BigHomieFlock #BigDawgBigDawg,” Waka wrote in an Instagram caption of a post that criticized Uzi.

With that in mind, Uzi's got big things on the horizon, and from the looks of his most recent interview, he's probably not stressing too much about what other people think of him.

Elsewhere in the brief interview, Uzi revealed that his forthcoming LUV Is Rage 2 should be getting released soon. We all know how that game goes, though, so don't take that as anything concrete. The project's been delayed, but fans will be rewarded for the wait, as the tape will feature a new version of "XO Tour Llif3" with a special, secret guest.
