Danny Brown has been remarkably quiet since he dropped Old in 2013. Finally able to make his opus after breaking through with XXX, Old pitted raucous house parties and hotel room binges against their inevitable hangovers. By flipping the order of his party cycle, he wove this sort of effect-and-cause web, where the parties play out under dark clouds and the breakdowns happen in real time. "Worth It," his collaboration with producer Clams Casino and contribution to Adult Swim's Singles Series, riffs on the same idea: "The fast cars and ice/Do you wanna live that life?/Is it really worth it?/New girls every night/Do you wanna live that life?/Is it really worth it?" Clams is fresh off his contributions--along with No I.D. and DJ Dahi--to Vince Staples' stark, stunning Def Jam debut, Summertime '06. (The Clams-produced "Norf Norf" just got the video treatment.) Though Danny has been mostly out of the public eye, he was commissioned to make the theme song for the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat.
