Old habits die hard, and while being sucked back into a feud that started more than a decade ago seems petty and foolish, sometimes it's just the kick start you need. Ja Rule has spent the week refuting Meek Mill's claim that the beef he has with Drake is similar to what Ja had with 50 Cent in the early- and mid-2000s. In the course of that, he got dragged back into the same circle of shots, with the Murder Inc and G-Unit bosses trading barbs. But it seems as if that reinvigorated Ja, who today gives us "Wake Up." Presumably off his forthcoming ninth solo album, Genius Loves Company, the song has everything a New York hit from 2002 needs, including flutes on the hook and enthusiastic shoutouts to Jacob the Jeweler. Get up, it's the first of the month.
