Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV Climbs Back Up the Charts

Since dethroning J. Cole last week, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV continues its streak as the top-selling rap album on the Billboard Top 200 album charts for the second week-in-a-row.

Aside from another go-around at the top spot, CIV is keeping the ball rolling with its streak in the overall top 10. In fact, Weezy’s disc moved up three spots, from No. 9 to No. 6. According to Nielsen SoundScan, after selling 35,300 over the last seven-days, CIV’s total sales sum is up to 1,586,100.

Cole’s Cole World: The Sideline Story did not move up but remained consistent, staying at the No. 11 spot, following 23,700 units purchased by fans this week. Now a month in, 328,400 copies of Cole’s debut album have been sold.

Watch the Throne by Jay-Z & Kanye West dropped three spots to No. 16 after being at No. 13 for two weeks straight. In the last seven-days, WTT sold 19,200, while 994,400 discs have picked up by fans overall.

Failing to make the Top 40 is Songs of the Ungratefulling by House of Pain rapper, Everlast, which debuted this week at No. 48 and brought in 8,900 in sales.

Next week look for Lil Wayne and J. Cole to continue their battle for the top spot on the charts. —Christopher Minaya
