Kodak Black Is Ready to Ride for His Family on New Track “My Cousin”
Controversy continues to surround Kodak Black, and he continues to put out new tracks. The latest being the banger "My Cousin," produced by C-Clip Beatz.
The Project Baby gets personal on this one, rapping about a family member who just took a bullet. Kodak goes through the emotional moments of being twisted between riding for his kinfolk and not wanting to face the repercussions if he gets caught. It's an ill situation to be in for the Pompano Beach, Fla., MC. In fact, it's the reason he deleted his IG and Twitter for a short period.
He spills his soul in the booth rapping over a subdued track. "My cousin just got hit up today I wanna slide though/Even though I'm on house arrest I wanna ride though/But if I go to prison I know my mama will cry though/He told me I'm just telling you I love you before I die though," he spits.
After putting his money where his mouth is, Lil Kodak recently made headlines over comments he put out on social media where he said, "I don’t really like black girls like that, sorta kinda.” Following the backlash, he tried clarify his statement. “I love Black African American women its just not my forte to deal with a 'darskin' woman I prefer them to have a lighter complexion than me #MyPreference #FuckYou,” he wrote. He later deleted his Instagram account.
Music wise, Kodak recently put out tracks with YoungBoy Never Broke Again ("Water") and John Wick ("Haiti"), as well as the solo joint "First Day Out." He was recently added to the lineup of Master P's celebrity basketball game in New Orleans. The event goes down tomorrow (June 29) at Xavier University Convocation Center, and will kick off the 2017 Essence Festival.
