In the midst of hundreds of people—and a few vendors trying to sell and/or showcase their kicks—hip-hop fans miss a step during the wrap-up show of The Sneaker Pimps’ USA tour (presented by Street King and powered by Footaction USA) on Friday (November 11) in Manhattan’s Irving Plaza as Kendrick Lamar, Stalley and others concluded the trek with a bang.

Closing out the night was the headliner, Kendrick Lamar. The 2011 XXL Freshman alum got the crowd going by opening with “Heart Part 2” and “Ignorance Is Bliss” from Overly Dedicated. The Compton MC displayed his skills as a performer as he transitioned to records off his latest project, Section .80, including “Hol’ Up.”

To boot, Kendrick also brought out Harlem upstart, A$AP Rocky, who was also in the building. Rocky served as a hypeman for two joints, including the last record performed, “Michael Jordan,” which was arguably the most fitting to conclude the Sneaker Pimps’ USA tour with PHLI store owner Dave Jeff hosted the event, along with Cory Townes, while up-and-comers rocked the crowd, including Blake Carrington. Others on the roster, such as Bizz E Blaze, Siya, Phil Ade and Kris Kasanova, the latter two who appeared on xxlmag.com’s The Break recently, performed as well.

Those scheduled to hit the stage, however, were not the only ones who managed to rock the mic; surprise guests also made an impact. During Queens rapper Nyemiah Supreme’s set, Dipset’s capo, Jim Jones, made an appearance and performed his record, “Everybody Jones,” which she helped do the hook on. Waka Flocka Flame also jumped on stage, showcasing his new single “Round of Applause,” as well as “Grove St. Party” and “Hard In da Paint” while his dreads whipped back and forth during the latter.
Maybach Music Group’s newest artist, Stalley, did not disappoint during his set, either. Stalley, who was sporting a gray hoodie and fitted cap, energized the crowd with joints like “330,” “Hard” and “Monkey Ish (R.I.P. Pimp C)” off of his Lincoln Way Nights mixtape. —Christopher Minaya
