Kanye West Meets With Donald Trump at Trump Tower
Update (Dec. 13, 11:50 a.m. EST):
E! News reports that Trump and Kanye met to talk about "a potential role for the rapper." A source tells the celebrity site Trump is interested in making Kanye "an ambassador of sorts" and giving Yeezy an "entrepreneurial leadership role." Contrary to TMZ's report, the source also tells E! News that it was Trump who reached out to meet with Kanye, not the other way around. "Trump thinks he's a great role model when it comes to business," claims the source.
Original Story:
President-elect Donald Trump can be a hard person to meet with, even for the press, but this morning in New York City a special someone entered Trump Tower for a meeting with the man. As captured by many on hand, Kanye West entered the building just after 9 a.m. for a reported sit down with Trump.
West has expressed his admiration of the Donald in recent weeks, despite objection from his fanbase and hip-hop at large. At a Saint Pablo show in San Jose, West praised Trump's unconventional campaign tactics, many of which appealed to people's more populist sensibilities. "There’s nonpolitical methods to speaking that I like, that I feel were very futuristic. And that style, and that method of communication, has proven that it can beat a politically correct way of communication. And I fuck with that. I actually think that his approach was absolutely genius. Because it fucking worked!” he said.
It seems a possibility that West is meeting with Trump as part of his tech summit, what has been characterized as a way for Trump to assert his dominance over an industry that hasn't shown him great favor. There is a notion that the meeting will primarily focus on job creation and retention. What's more, TMZ is reporting that West requested a 15 minute meeting with Trump, which the President-elect obliged, though the purpose, if not as part of the tech summit, isn't yet clear.
