A case of mistaken identity isn’t usually a laughing matter. Unless you’re Kameron Dash, that is.

The sizzling San Diego-based model, who appears alongside the likes of Fabolous, Jadakiss and Mary J. Blige in DJ Khaled’s new “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over” video, was mistakenly reported as the younger cousin of the beautiful Stacey Dash by a popular gossip website just weeks ago. So, how did Kameron take the mix-up? She was flattered. Hey, Stacey Dash isn’t the worst woman in the world to be compared to, right?

Here, the 23-year-old Kameron talks about the confusion, dishes on her turn-ons and how she would love to take on a starring role in an action movie.—Mark Lelinwalla

XXL: How much have you been asked about being Stacey Dash’s cousin in the last few days?

Kameron Dash: Ever since I was on MediaTakeout, everyone keeps asking me if I’m related to her.

What do you think about that?

It’s pretty funny. It’s flattering, I mean she’s gorgeous, but I’m definitely not related.

Not a bad case of mistaken identity, though.

Yeah, not a bad case of mistaken identity. Yeah, definitely, I can’t be mad at that (laughing).

What have your friends and family’s reactions been to it?

They laughed about it. They know I’m not related to her.

Talk to us about some of the videos you’ve appeared in thus far.

My very first big video was Soulja Boy – “Pretty Boy Swag.” Recently, I did “Double Dip” by Problem and Tydolla$ign. I also just did the DJ Khaled, Mary J. Blige, Fabolous and Jadakiss video. They shot it in LA. It was fun, it was awesome. Definitely cool to see Mary perform.

What’s your role in the video?

I had one of the lead roles. I basically play DJ Khaled’s girl and I also did another video – it’s Ace Hood featuring Chris Brown.

On behalf of all dudes out there, are you single?

I am single.

Now, how does that work out?

That’s a good question (laughing). I don’t know. Sometimes I think the modeling can be a little intimidating because I’m around a lot of people. That’s part of the problem. I would love to be in a relationship. That’s just how I was raised. I’m more of a homebody. Even though what I do, makes it so I’m not home as much, but I’m very about family and stuff like that, so I’d love to be settled down in a relationship.

Are dudes out there too shook to approach you?

My family and friends always joke that people look, but they’d be too afraid to say anything.

What would be your ideal date?

I’m pretty simple. I absolutely love the movies, so maybe go to a movie and just kind of hang out. I like to chill and hang out, if we went jet skiing or something like that, that’d be cool.

Do you have a type?

Not really. Growing up, I was more concerned about being treated good than all the looks and material things on the outside.

What can a dude do to impress you?

Be sweet. I guess you could say I’m a hopeless romantic. If you do little small things, they don’t have to cost much because I’m not a materialistic person, but just a small gesture.

What’s your favorite body part?

I have a little butt, but everyone calls it a little bubble butt. It’s not big, but it’s a little something.

Past the video modeling, what else would you like to do?

I want to get into the acting stuff more and I’d love to have my own business – I want to have a shoe line. But yeah, that and the acting.

We have the perfect first role for you – Stacey Dash’s younger cousin (Laughing).

I know, right, on her new show Single Ladies (laughing). If they hit me up and wanted me, I’d do it in a second.

What would be your dream role?

I’d basically just want to show versatility. I would love to play a role like a Tombraider chick, just a bad ass, and then totally switch it up and do something opposite.

Who would be your dream co-star?

I would say Will Smith. I just think he’s an all-around talented person and I would just love the opportunity to be on set and learn. He’s a great actor, he definitely pulls you in and makes you feel whatever role he’s playing, so I’d love to just soak it in.
