What are you known for in the fitted hat community? I’m really known for my streetwear style. When I started in the hat community, it was just putting in the cherry on top, which was the hat. So, I was always really into streetwear fashion and all that. That’s my biggest expertise.

How did you get into fitted hats? I really got into [it because] of my husband. We were two years in our relationship, and I was helping him collect hats. He was really big at the time, and then slowly every drop, they were sold out in seconds. So, it was just something that I was always there to help him with, but I kind of gravitated that towards my lifestyle and how I was able to fit that into my world and not just his.

What makes a great fitted hat? For me, it’s just something unique. Something you don’t really see as often, whether that’s the thread you use or the patch you use. The pattern of the dome of the hat, stuff like that, that it’s just unique to the eyes.

What’s the most valuable hat you have? The most valuable one to me that I didn’t create was the Panna Cotta. That was my first hat that I tried on that got me into the fitted community. It was gifted [to me] by my boyfriend at the time, my husband now. It’s just really meaningful to me. The hat that started it all.

Now, the hat that is very dearest to me that I designed would be my very first hat design, which was a [Houston Astros] hat. It was inspired by Betty Boop, which is overall inspired by my grandma. She passed away two years ago, so growing up she always loved Betty Boop. So, I just dedicated that hat to her.

Why are fitted hats important to fashion and personal style? It adds a different value to the outfit. So, like I said, when I first started, that was the intention. I just wanted to create an environment around my space where I felt comfortable. I am the only girl, so I just grew up around boys all the time.

So, this was just something that I wanted to create within my wardrobe, in a sense, to make me feel comfortable. But the hat adds a different look to it, and like I said, it’s just really that cherry on top. It’s just like you don’t think you need it, but it’s a lot better when you do have it.

How have fitteds played a role in hip-hop culture? I grew up around hip-hop a lot just because my older brother, growing up, I would always see, at least in the Houston hip-hop community, it was just their way of saying, “I am in here.”
