The Statik Selektah-produced cut is urgent and personal, the familiar brand of mythmaking that so many rap debuts are built on. In sequence, he talks about "rehearsing these verses," aspiring to platinum and gold, and putting on for his family. Titled for his family's Christmas dinner staple, "Curry Chicken" is chiefly concerned with Joey's parental relationships, mulling over purse thievery and paternal pride.
