J. Cole is currently on a press run promoting his upcoming album, Born Sinner. Cole, along with Mac Miller, suffered early leaks of their albums. However, Cole was fortunate enough that his deluxe version didn’t hit the Internet yet.

During his interview on Power 106’s Backstage Breakfast series at Universal Studios, Cole spoke about the Truly Yours 3 tracks. One of them is “New York Times” that featured 50 Cent and Bas. Here, he revealed his original idea was to get Nas on the record.

“The song is called “New York Times,” and really it’s a Queens thing,” he said. “My original idea was to put Nas and 50 on there. That’s what I was trying to do. But I got 50. You’ll hear the record. It’s a real New York record and Queens is my second home. I’m from North Carolina but I’ve been in Queens for the past 10 years. That’s why I got 50.”

The rest of the interview discusses his Dreamville label, while parts two and three go into detail about the Born Sinner title and his Alicia Keys crush. You can check those out below.
