11 Hip-Hop Artists Who Have Cheated On Their Spouse

"I shall remain faithful to her until the day I die." Those words hold a lot of weight, especially when it comes holy matrimony or a committed relationship. Sometimes, though, love can't heal everything and often rappers resort to infidelity. It shouldn't be a common practice, but it seems in recent history rappers are constantly defending themselves against cheating allegations. Recently, Wiz Khalifa has been under scrutiny, with rumors that Amber caught him with another girl in bed while she was visiting his new digs late at night. XXL looks back at a recent history of rappers who have cheated on their spouse.

Swizz Beatz and Mashonda

Swizz Beatz wasn’t always with Alicia Keys. Swizz was with R&B singer Mashonda, who publicly outed Alicia for being responsible for their divorce in an open letter five years ago. As Mashonda pointed out, Keys was allegedly stealing him from her and breaking up their family. Bygones will be bygones though because they were all spotted this year vacationing together. Picture perfect?

Ja Rule and Karrine “Superhead” Steffans

Ja Rule and Superhead had a fling in the past. In Superhead’s 2006 book, Confessions Of A Video Vixen, she detailed their relationship, which consisted of a lot of partying, sex and drug use. During that time, Ja was with his high school sweetheart, so he was messing around with Superhead on the side. Years later, Ja went on The Breakfast Club and reflected on their relationship, saying it was strictly political. No love lost.

Diddy and Kim Porter

Kim Porter, who has been on an on-again, off-again relationship with Diddy, addressed in detail what led to their breakup in 2007 interview with Essence. In her words, Diddy’s philandering was one of the reasons why they broke up. On top of that, Diddy cheated on Porter with Sarah Chapman, who worked in fashion, lived in Atlanta, and knew him for several years. The shocker? That Diddy had a baby with Chapman before he had twins with Porter. Talk about a sticky situation.

Biggie and Faith Evans

Married in 1994, Biggie and Faith Evans had a loving but tumultuous relationship. Although Biggie entertained multiple women outside of his marriage, the most memorable is female rap icon, Lil Kim. As B.I.G.'s protégée the working relationship between the rappers was in most cases intertwined with romantic affairs.

Big Boi and Sherlita M. Patton

Big Boi was involved with a contentious divorce of his wife Sherlita M. Patton of 11 years. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Patton filed for divorce and stated the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Things must have been resolved because Patton called it off earlier this year. From break up to make up.

Chris Brown/Karrueche/Rihanna

What else is there to stay about Chris Brown? At one point, he was committed to Rihanna. At another point, he was dating Karrueche. To bring it full circle, he was stringing both along at the same time. No man can keep two women happy in a romantic capacity, even if Chris has wondered himself “if it’s possible to love two people at once.” The answer is no.

Nas and Kelis

The pair divorced in 2010, Nas and Kelis disassembled their marriage as a result of infidelity among other things. Nas once spoke about cheating on Kelis telling VH1, “The biggest lesson I learned is respect…trust…no infidelity. I, at some point, got pissed off during the relationship and strayed, and I wouldn’t do that again. I would be all good," he said.

Fabolous and Emily B.

Although kept on the low for awhile Fabolous' baby mama, Emily B. let the cat out the bag about Fab's cheating when she appeared on "Love & Hip Hop." Crying on multiple occasions throughout the show regarding the matter, Emily ultimately decided to part ways with the series in efforts to truly save her relationship.

Fat Joe and Ms. Dubai

In 2012, Fat Joe's wife of 17 years filed for divorce after she caught wind of the rapper's creeping. Word is that after his weight loss, Joe began cheating with a woman who goes by the name of Ms. Dubai.

DJ Envy and Erica Mena

In early 2013, DJ Envy confessed live on air that he had been cheating on his wife of 19 years with Erica Mena. "It's a difficult thing to do. Sometimes being married it makes you insecure dude. I looked like I had everything. It was scary, my wife is gorgeous. She might need somebody that's smarter than me. It made me insecure," Envy said live on air all the while begging his wife for forgiveness.

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose

Love doesn’t always end well. These past few weeks, Wiz and Amber have been making tabloid and hip-hop site headlines for calling their relationship after just a year of marriage. Both accused each other of cheating (we can’t imagine Amber snuck around with Nick Cannon), but it turns out that Wiz might be the reason behind all the turmoil. According to TMZ, Amber walked in on Wiz one night after she went to check out his new apartment. Apparently, he was with another women already, which is a big no-no. It’s only more reasons for Amber to solidify her divorce and fight for full custody of their one year old son Sebastian.
