Future returned in good fashion today (July 6) with the surprise release of his BeastMode 2 mixtape, the much-hyped follow-up to the rapper's first Zaytoven collaboration.

The project is a long time coming, and it's worth noting that the rapper dropped the project on the anniversary of his ex-girlfriend Ciara's marriage to football player Russell Wilson. The original Beast Mode anchored Future's acclaimed 2015 mixtape run, and Zay teased the completion of a sequel one year later.

With the fruit of that labor finally out in the wild, fans are sharing their thoughts—ranging from proud to petty—on social media regarding Future's newest release, executive produced by the late Seth Firkins and Zaytoven. As with any Nayvadius project, reactions split along the lines of what listeners prefer from the flexible vocalist, whether it be his melodic brooding or his superpower flexes. And in the middle of a summer dense with high-profile drops, comparisons to recent work by Drake and Kanye West abound.

Folks have also weighed in on how the joint stands up to Future's other work this year. The Freebandz boss is all over the Superfly soundtrack, which he executive produced, and he also closed out Zaytoven's own Trap Holizay project, released in May.
