Although last night’s American Music Awards, honoring musical genres across the board, didn’t prove to be a particular big night for hip-hop, Eminem came out a winner.

The Detroit MC led the way for rappers, as he was nominated for five awards, ultimately bringing home two. Em beat out B.o.B. and Drake twice, for both Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Male Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for  Recovery.

Justin Bieber, who cleaned up with four wins, showed love to Em during his acceptance speech for Favorite Pop/Rock Male, a category in which he beat Eminem and Usher. ”Truly I don't know how this is possible because I've been singing Eminem since I was three and Usher is my mentor,” he said. “So this is big.”

Other notable moments included the Black Eyed Peas taking home the award for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Diddy-Dirty Money's performance of the recent “I’m Coming Home” [Watch Below] and Nicki Minaj, whose debut album drops today, taking a break from presenting an award to tell the crowd to “give it up for Pink Friday.” —Adam Fleischer
