Drake Presents Rihanna With Video Vanguard Award at 2016 MTV Video Music Awards
At the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (Aug. 29), Drake presented Rihanna with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Before he handed over the trophy, he gave a little speech about how he's loved Rihanna since he was 22, the first time they met and why she's a legend in the industry. You can see part of his speech above.
Rihanna accepted the award with a speech of her own, talking about how far she's come and all the people who've helped her along the way. When she was through, Drake seemed to swoop in for a kiss, but Rihanna played it cool. Not as bad as G-Eazy getting curved by Britney Spears earlier in the night, but peep it below.
A different camera angle, however, has Twitter users thinking they did, in fact, lock lips. The theory is that Rihanna only avoided a full-on smooch to keep her make-up intact. Peep the video at the bottom to see for yourself.
Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj were in the house tonight, but nothing seemed to come of Drake and Meek being in the same building. Just days ago, however, MMG boss Rick Ross said he's willing to go after Drake if it comes to that. With Six God disrespecting Meek in his own hometown of Philly just days ago, seems like Ross' reaction is appropriate.
Drake was also in the mix with Rihanna's family backstage at the VMAs, and you can watch that footage below as well.
