Drake Wins Favorite Hip-Hop Artist at 2017 American Music Awards
Drake takes home another big awards-show win. On Sunday (Nov. 19), the Toronto superstar won the trophy for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at the 2017 American Music Awards, beating out Kendrick Lamar and Migos in the process.
The AMA win means yet another big accomplishment for Drizzy, whose 2017 has been as successful as anyone. His latest project, More Life, broke the single-day streaming record at Spotify, and has been a stable of functions everywhere since it was released. Like we said, no one should be surprised he took home this W.
With that said, Drizzy's gotten his fair share of doubters and flat-out haters over the years—even if most of his rap game contemporaries respect his hustle. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Chance The Rapper gave his Canadian friend a shoutout while explaining his belief that many people are ashamed to like the former Degrassi star.
"I love Drake," he said. "I think we live in a time where people are ashamed to say how much they love Drake or enjoy what he does. I'm totally rebelling against that. I just want to say shout out to Drake and your whole team."
Drake's dominated 2017, and considering that he's been hard at work on a new project, it looks like he's prepping to do the same next year. Can't wait to hear what he's got cooking up.
