A former Def Jam A&R turned rapper has filed a federal lawsuit against Diddy’s Justin’s restaurant in Atlanta after him and another man were shot and injured in the parking lot of the eatery back in November 2010.

According to the Associated Press, Leroy “Tony” Austin filed the suit in the U.S. District Court of Northern Georgia last Friday (July 15), attesting that the restaurant failed to offer the proper security.

The cousin of storied hip-hop executive, Kevin Liles, Austin has worked in the rap industry for over a decade. He was an A&R rep at Def Jam Recordings before becoming the president and co-owner of Russell Simmons Music Group. After that label folded, Austin began pursuing a career in front of the mic as an MC.

As of press time, the Atlanta restaurant’s attorneys have yet to comment on the case. —Rachelle Jean-Louis
