Desiigner's breakthrough year just got a little more impressive. Today (Dec. 12), Def Jam Recordings announced that Desiigner's hit single "Panda" went quadruple platinum. The Brooklyn rapper's "Timmy Turner" was also certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

"Panda" completely changed the life of Desiigner. The G.O.O.D. Music artist went from a complete unknown to an overnight star thanks to the single, which was released in Dec. 2015. The record got an extra boost when Kanye West sampled it for his song "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2," and the increased recognition helped "Panda" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April. Desiigner spoke to XXL about the achievement at the Freshman cover shoot.

"'Panda' going No. 1 is a blessing," he said. "I knew it was going to get there, now it’s time to put down more music and deliver for the fans, just give them more. I don’t make music for the time. I make music for the century so I knew it ["Panda"] was going to go. Kanye West and Pusha T, they go crazy all the time. They tell me, ‘Keep doing your thing. You know G.O.O.D. Music got this. You got a number No. 1.’ There’s just good vibes with them all the time when I talk to them about working and my career."

Desiigner's "Timmy Turner" originally debuted as his XXL Freshman freestyle. The New York rhymer quickly gave it a proper release, complete with production by Mike Dean. The song serves as the lead single for Desiigner's debut album, which is expected to drop in 2017.
