XXL got word last week, but now it's official: Desiigner's "Panda" has toppled Rihanna's "Work" to become the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. Congratulations to the Brooklyn MC.

The song ends the longest streak (41 weeks) between No. 1 rap songs in over 14 years, as the last "rap" track to top the chart was Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" in July of last year. Desiigner is also the first rapper to top the chart with a debut entry since Iggy Azalea did it with "Fancy" in 2014. The last rap song to hit No. 1 before that was Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" in February of 2013.

The song got a huge boost from Kanye West when it was included on "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2" from The Life of Pablo, but the single was moving units well before Kanye got his paws on it. There is some sort of undeniable, untraceable appeal to the song that, despite relying heavily on vocals that sound exactly like Future, has caught on across the nation. In fact, Desiigner's debut single is also his first to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100, while Future doesn't have any songs that hold that distinction.

Future might be starting to feel the heat, too. Last week at a show in Syracuse, NY, Future didn't like the lack of energy from a certain part of the crowd, prompting him to ask, "Y'all some Ciara or Desiigner fans?" Perhaps he's finally feeling the pressure from a guy so many people accuse of being his imitator.

Desiigner's made headlines of his own in recent weeks, especially with his live performances. First he picked up a handicapped crew member and slung him over his shoulders, then he invented a new dance move by throwing up into a dab (seamlessly, we might add) while performing "Panda."

XXL recently spoke to Menace, the guy who produced "Panda," and revealed that he made the beat in about two hours and sold it to the recent G.O.O.D. Music signee for $200.

Now the world waits for what's next. XXL got to hear a couple joints Desiigner has in the stash when he visted the HQ months ago, including one produced by Mike Dean that might surprise a ton of people. Keep an eye on this kid and don't label him as a one-hit wonder just yet. You already know people are going in with the memes, too:
