Deniro Farrar Gets Some Family Time in “Nostalgia” Video

If nothing else, Deniro Farrar's latest effort serves as a counterpoint to the reductive and dismissive cracks about rap video tropes that spill out from media outlets and middle America. "Nostalgia" captures the Charlotte, NC native with his children, his mother and other relatives during a family reunion of sorts. The song is heartfelt and confessional, with him dedicating lines to his loved ones by name. Farrar's most recent release was June's Cliff of Death II EP, a seven-track set produced by one-half of Blue Sky Black Death. It featured contributions from Nacho Picasso, Gucci Mane, Tune, Duruthaking and Mack Shine. His next project, an EP called Guilty Until Proven Innocent, is slated to drop this winter on Warner Bros. It remains to be seen if he can match the commercial heights of his fellow Tar Heel J. Cole, but Farrar's unique blend of technicality and emotional intelligence bodes well for his career.
