Consequence Dazzles on New Song “Imagine” With Charles Hamilton and Hodgy Beats
Two days after dropping his new "The Realness" freestyle, Consequence returns with "Imagine," a reflective, self-produced track featuring himself, Charles Hamilton, Hodgy Beats and Kam Corvet. You can hear it below.
The track, which features upbeat production, finds all three rappers getting reflective as they spit about the possibilities they can "Imagine" and actualize. Consequence, of course, delivers a stellar verse filled with the sort of nimble wordplay he's become known for in his lengthy rap career.
"After a taste of the rap life, I knew I had to have it/I knew that the trap life could maybe end tragic/I knew if I rapped like the greats that reeked havoc/There'd be no more subways for me like Jared," Cons spits on the track.
Hodgy turns in some dizzying wordplay of his own on the track, and Hamilton injects the track with more introspection. Covert delivers an energetic hook, flaunting a strong voice in the process. Ultimately, it's a track about aspiration and overcoming the internal and external roadblocks to success. In other words, it's pretty dope.
"Imagine" will appear on Consequence's forthcoming Where Hip Hop Lives mixtape, which is slated to drop on October. Last month, Cons spit over MC Lyte's "Paper Thin" and Pharcyde's "Drop." Check out "Imagine" for yourself below.
