Cam'ron is a man of principle. His personal relationships have splintered (Jay Z, Kanye, briefly Jim Jones) or endured (Dame) at the whim of his own convictions, never industry politics or financial incentives. So it's not surprise that his stance on snitching has remained static since his infamous 2007 appearance opposite Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes. Last night (April 15) on The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore, the rapper joined the host, along with comedian Chris Distefano and Ras Baraka, the mayor of Newark. The panel begins with Wilmore posing a provocative question to Baraka: "How can the police tell people in the community to snitch when they won't snitch on each other?" From there, the conversation expands to a discussion of what it means to snitch. But Cam wasn't interested in playing semantics. Instead, he had a cogent argument against giving information to the police. "Just because you snitch doesn't mean they're gonna get convicted," he said. "Now you're snitching on somebody who has to go through a court process, go through trial, go through et cetera et cetera, then comes back out on the street and looks at you, like, 'That was you who told on me.'"

Later, the Dipset chief engages the Newark mayor on the chances of Newark residents cooperating with police. Below, you can watch the aforementioned conversation between Cam and Cooper, who welcomed the rapper to the show at the height of the 'Stop Snitching' movement, which had gained momentum through street DVDs like Beef and from rappers like The Game, who coopted the phrase to push mixtape series.
