As 50 Cent's legal woes continue, the rapper is blaming his former representation for part of his financial downfall. According to reports from Business Insider and Law360, Fifty filed a complaint against the law firm Garvey Schubert Barer in Connecticut bankruptcy court and is seeking $75 million in damages. The firm represented the rapper during his legal battle with Sleek Audio, a company he lost $16 million to in court.

According to the legal documents, 50 claims that the firm did a poor job representing him while he was battling with Sleek in court. Fifty initially worked with Sleek Audio to launch a headphone company but the two parties terminated their relationship in 2011. Fif later launched his successful SMS Audio line but Sleek sued and won in court on the grounds that the rapper stole their product design and confidential private client information.

In his complaint against his former legal team, 50 claims that the lawyers were not skilled enough to handle the case. He writes, "Among GSB's numerous failures was its inexplicable decision not to call technical and damages experts to rebut expert testimony offered by Sleek--failures relied upon by the arbitrator in crediting Sleek's experts and entering an eight-figure award in Sleek's favor."

According to the rapper's lawyer who is representing him during his bankruptcy proceedings, Fifty is filing suit because he could not reach a settlement with GSB. His former lawyers sent a statement to Business Insider that reads:

We understand that Mr. Jackson is disappointed in the outcome of Sleek Audio's arbitration against him. However, Mr. Jackson's complaint against GSB omits a number of relevant facts and misstates a number of others, and we will respond to the allegations in accordance with the court's rules. Our attorneys properly counseled Mr. Jackson and his sophisticated team of financial and operational advisors about the transactions and the arbitrations with Sleek. Unfortunately, the arbitrator in the Sleek case found Mr. Jackson responsible for his actions and the actions of those who performed services for him or his companies. We look forward to demonstrating that our attorneys handled the Sleek matters appropriately in all aspects.
