Tyler, The Creator Says ScHoolboy Q Passed on the “Who Dat Boy” Beat
When it comes to missed opportunities when choosing beats, there are a lot of instances in hip-hop where hindsight is 20/20. Tyler, The Creator recently revealed that ScHoolboy Q had a chance to have the "Who Dat Boy" track off his new LP, Flower Boy, but passed.
News broke in the public when one fan posited his opinion on who should have been added to the track. "..the 3rd verse of @tylerthecreator Who Dat Boy shoulda went to @scHoolboyq," he wrote.
Q saw the tweet in his mentions and responded jokingly, "Tyler & rocky didn't wanna get bodied....."
But apparently there is some sort of back story. Tyler responded to the TDE rapper by saying the beat for the song was initially Q's, but he turned it down all together.
"YOU FAT LYING BITCH I MADE THAT BEAT SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU AND YOU SAID 'EHH, NAH' SO I KEPT IT YOU DIRTY NIGGA," Tyler wrote.
This is not an uncommon occurrence in hip-hip. We recently learned that Wale had the opportunity to have Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" beat but passed on it because of its somber nature. “I turned 'see you again' down cuz it was way too sad for me to write,” he revealed on Twitter.
You gotta learn to live with regrets.
