In a music world full of Internet-bred up-and-comers, producers are becoming stars just as fast as rappers these days. New York beat maker Sporting Life previews his forthcoming project Slam Dunk Vol. I with the new track "Kill That Shout" today (Aug. 19). RatKing's resident producer has a solid resume to his name and it's evident from this instrumental that he's gearing up to once again to prove his prowess behind the boards. Last year, he dropped a dope solo project, 55 5’s, around the same time Wiki dropped his solo debut Lil Me.

The project's being backed by BitTorrent's Discovery Fund, which grants money and promotional support to deserving indie artists. As the presser states, Sporting Life's upcoming offering marries "his love of basketball, comics and music into a seamless blend" and is inspired by Japanese manga artist Takehiko Inoue's work.

Earlier this summer, Hak announced that he was leaving Ratking, telling i-D, "“Too many cooks in the kitchen and too many men. I need balance... It’s all love that I project towards them, but I just felt like I wasn’t being treated nicely to keep it a hunnid, they didn’t see me for me.” Wiki also seemed to veer off by forming a new group with Antwon and Lil Ugly Mane. So, with the group's members very much doing their own things at the moment, now seems like the perfect time for Sporting Life to take advantage of this solo alley-oop from BitTorrent.
