Facing allegations that he physically abused singer Justine Skye, Sheck Wes, who scored his first hit with 2017’s “Mo Bamba,” has been removed from a Major League Soccer ad campaign. An MLS spokesman confirmed the news in a statement to Ad Week.

“In light of the recent news regarding Sheck Wes, he is no longer part of the campaign,” an MLS spokesperson said Tuesday (Feb. 12).

The domestic violence allegations began circulating the internet in October 2018. The moment that ignited the conversation surrounding the abuse allegations came when the Roc Nation songstress released her single “Build,” a song that touches on an abusive relationship from her past.

Although Skye never explicitly named the Harlem rapper in the song, a series of tweets and an interview on The Breakfast Club led fans to identify Wes as the culprit. She publicly accused Sheck of abuse on Monday evening (Feb. 11).

"Taking a walk with my friends and my man and Sheck Wes (my abuser) and his friends decide to STALK US and attack my friends," Skye wrote on Twitter. "[Two] cars full of niggas while he sat in the car like a bitch. You’re pathetic sheck and you beat women. You hit your girl before me and you’ll do it again."

Denying the allegations, the young rapper proclaimed his innocence via social media. Shortly thereafter, his legal and management team released a statement on his behalf.

"We are actively investigating the allegations against Sheck Wes and are fiercely standing by him through this," begins the statement. "He has denied any wrongdoing whatsoever or violence of any kind and we believe him. He will defend himself against this serious defamation of character with any and all legal remedies available and for now will leave this with the legal process. Sheck is a strong supporter of the rights and liberties of all people and is appalled by these wrongful allegations and attempts to assassinate his character. He will no longer sit by and allow these falsehoods to live on any further."
