Scotty ATL Shares His Pain in “Stupid Rich” Video
Scotty ATL dropped his new album Daily Bread in September, and today releases a video for the lead track, "Stupid Rich." Directed by Sonny Bonoho and Ife Adeniji, the video is mostly a black and white portray of Scotty, who roams remote streets and locations, thinking of all the times he's been lied to. The song's lush production comes courtesy of Houston's own Cory Mo, who's worked with legends like UGK, Devin The Dude and the Geto Boys.
Scotty tells XXL the video is simple yet powerful and represents the pain and joy he's been through in the past year. "This song and video shows that no matter what happens you can make it to the top. I'm by myself in it because through all the lies and bullshit motherfuckers feed you, press through and shine on they ass. At the end of the video you can see that I shed a few tears," he says.
The video was shot in Oregon, Scotty saying that a riverside scene had him remembering all of the friend's he's lost. "When I had a chance to really be still and listen to what I was saying I couldn't stop the tears from flowing," he writes. "We had to actually stop shooting cause it was so powerful the whole camera staff was crying."
Scotty says the track is perfect introduction for Daily Bread. "The vibe of the song set the tone for the whole project. it has a gritty ATL sound to it," he says. Scotty has shows this week in Atlanta and Kentucky, with the "Stupid Rich" video premiering up above.
