Rico Richie, whose song "Poppin" is starting to gain steam, was arrested in Atlanta on Wednesday for selling weed and possession of firearms, according to TMZ. According to the report, Richie wasn't the target in the arrest as cops were investigating the studio Richie was recording in for information related to Young Thug's recent indictment that names Thugger and Birdman as co-conspirators in a plot to kill Lil Wayne. The studio was where Thug's video for "Halftime," which is being used as evidence in the indictment, was shot. When cops entered the studio, they found weed and two guns on the premises. The rapper's camps say the drugs and guns weren't his but he didn't want to snitch and "accepted responsibility." The report says Richie has been prior felonies on his record and could face hard time if found guilty. XXL has reached out to his camp for comment.

Rico's "Poppin" has been remixed by the likes of Shy Glizzy, Lance Stephenson and Meek Mill, Chris Brown and French Montana. The original has over 450,000 spins on SoundCloud and is slated to appear on DJ Drama's upcoming Quality Street Music 2 album. Hopefully this setback doesn't stop the rapper's rise.
