Here’s How Hip-Hop Spent Father’s Day in 2017
Father's Day is all about showing love and gratitude to your pops and for rappers who share their family lives on social media, yesterday (June 18) there was an influx of throwback photos of rappers with their dads as well as cute videos of their own next of kin. Plenty of rappers, young and old, got into the Father's Day spirit.
Artists who celebrated their first Father's Day this past weekend include Madeintyo, 6lack and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Each of these guys commemorated the moment with cute candids of their babies.
"I get to wake up every single day, for the rest of my life, and know who I'm doing this for. my first father's day! love you Syx," wrote 6lack on Instagram.
Meanwhile, veteran dads like Big Boi, Mistah F.A.B. and Swizz Beatz, who have big families of their own, were quick to show how their cute kids have grown up over the years.
"Stank All Y'all for the Fathers Day Wishes ! Right back Atcha 👊🏽💥 What ever u put into the #Boomiverse, comes Back to u ..Memories...They grow up so fast , My Everything...Jordan , Bamboo and Cross #Family1st #PattonClan," wrote Big Boi.
DJ Khaled has been obsessed with his son Asahd since the day he was born so it makes perfect sense that he would post about his baby boy on Father's Day. Khaled constantly celebrates his son for everything he does and the legendary producer even named his toddler the executive producer of the upcoming album Grateful. When XXL spoke the Miami beatsmith and larger-than-life personality for his XXL Spring 2017 cover story, Khaled said becoming a father has re-energized his passion for work.
"I represent my son and when he grows up, I want him to know his father is the greatest," said Khaled during the exclusive interview. "That’s how I am with the artists now in the studio. I don’t want to be sounding like I’m a preacher in the studio but I’m like, “Yo, we gotta represent right and whatever we doing gotta be great."
