TDE Co-President Punch Gets Introspective on “Gold”

Top Dawg Entertainment’s co-president Terrence "Punch" Henderson is back with a new record titled “Gold," which finds the rapper looking back at his long journey to get to where he is now and what everything he learned.

“All my life, I been told everything that glitters ain't gold/Now that I've arrived, I see these truths unfold before my eyes in a world so cold,” he raps. “Compulsive dreamer, pessimistic overthinker/Never indulging reefer, seldom Hennesy drinker/Wear my heart on my sleeve with a poker player's demeanor/Balanced emotion, you rarely know what I'm thinking//This is a special dedication, dedicated to streets that I was raised in.”

Throughout the year Punch has been dropping records sporadically. His most recent was “40 Years,” which dropped in September. That song was “dedicated to the 40-something year civil war that has ripped watts, ca. apart.” Back in March, Punch told Billboard he plans on releasing his debut album in the near future.

"I think I'mma do a project for sure," Punch said. "I think I'm going to finally finish it because I write a lot and I record every so often. I think I'm just gonna go ahead and knock it out at this point."
