Everyone knows that TDE president Punch can assemble an incredible lineup for roster. When you've got Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad and SZA all in one spot, you know you've got a keen eye for talent. But Punch also has some skills when it comes to rhyming.

Punch is back to showing off his prowess on the microphone with a brand new track called "Gone." The song is produced by Cardo and features the familiar voice of Erykah Badu -- he samples the singer's "On and On" for the beat.

The TDE boss may never pursue a solo career in full, but Punch clearly wants to express himself when he finds the inspiration. XXL spoke to Punch a few years back and he explained his mindset when it comes to his own music.

"I’m more so of a writer than an actual rapper,” Punch told XXL. “I don’t consider myself an artist like that. But I have more fun recording than anything; I guess it’s a form of expression for me. But I was just sitting at the house one day and I was going through some of the stuff I recorded and I was like, 'I’m going to put it out. See how the people feel about it.”

And Punch has at least one notable fan: Kendrick Lamar.

"Punch [has] always been a crazy lyricist aside from being a pioneer in the company,” Kendrick told MTV News. “He always had a knack for music and that’s what inspires the actual company. Everybody has so much passion for the art, it’s not just on the business end, so they know how to cater to the artists… We’ve seen this a long time ago, [it’s been] 10 years in the making.”
