Phresher Recalls Eminem Discovering Him Through Royce 5'9''

Eminem revealed the official tracklist for his highly anticipated Revival album yesterday (Dec. 5), and when he did, fans were shocked to learn that rising New York City rapper Phresher had landed on the project. Naturally, fans were wondering how, exactly, he ended up on the rap legend's album. Now they've got an answer.

During a recent stop by This Is 50, Phresher himself detailed the way his collab with Em came about. Apparently, Slim Shady actually learned of him through Royce 5'9," who turned in a dope remix to Phresher's "Wait a Minute" at the top of 2017.

"Royce Da 5'9" went ham on 'Wait a Minute.' Three minutes, just...retarded," Phresher recalls in the video. "Eminem hit [Royce] on Twitter, 'Ay, what is this? What is this, and why are you doing this?' [Royce 5'9"] goes, 'This is Phresher's record.' [Eminem] goes, 'Oh..ok, ok.' And that's when it happened."

Phresher says he heard Em had shouted out "Wait a Minute" a short while later, but he didn't believe him. That's when Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg gave his manager a phone call saying Em wanted Phresher to do a hook on his new album.

From there, Phresher says Eminem flew to New York and he laid the hook. When he was done, Em wanted to know if Phresher would hop on the song. Of course, he obliged.

In an interesting bit, Phresher mentions that a certain Atlanta rapper appeared on the Em collab, which is titled "Chloraseptic," with him. "They were like, 'Oh you know, 2 Chainz is on the record too. Listen to his verse.' And I'm like, now we're playing."

If you recall, 2 Chainz revealed that he'd worked with Eminem on his then-untitled album this past summer. When the tracklist was unveiled, though, Chainz was nowhere to be found. Could this mean he's a hidden feature? Who knows, but we'll find out soon.
